Frieda K. Wildey is a 23-year resident of Chesapeake Avenue in Eastport, Annapolis, with husband Jim Wildey and several Standard Poodles, where they have restored and renovated an 1895 Victorian home. A native Texan and University of Texas graduate, she was a founding Board of Directors member and volunteer with the Annapolis Box of Rain Foundation. Currently Frieda is an Offshore Racing Coach and Fleet Captain with the U. S. Naval Academy Varsity Offshore Sailing Team, member of the Annapolis City Maritime Advisory Board, and a member of the Eastport Civic Association’s Board of Directors. Professional experience includes work with the following organizations: Ericsson Racing Team (Volvo Ocean Race Syndicate), City of Annapolis Office of Economic Development, Farr International, Inc., the Volvo Ocean Race, OPERATION SAIL 2000, the Whitbread Round the World Race, International Sailing Federation, US Sailing Association/US Olympic Committee. Local volunteer experience with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Annapolis Yacht Club Regattas, and Save the Coconuts, among others. Early political experience includes volunteering on many Democratic campaigns as a member of University of Texas Young Democrats for numerous candidates including Ann Richards and Lloyd Doggett, plus Jimmy Carter’s Presidential campaign, which resulted in receiving an appointment to the Congressional Liaison office at the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department under Secretary Patricia Harris and later a position with a Texas law firm in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist on energy issues. Most recently served as a volunteer for local Democrats Sarah Elfreth, Steuart Pittman, Gavin Buckley, DaJuan Gay, and Aron Axe. |
