Biography

John Morse is a labor attorney, community leader, husband, and father to a child in Anne Arundel public schools, and Chair of the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee. As the committee’s at-large member and chair, he helps lead local efforts to register voters, support Democratic candidates, and mobilize residents to participate in elections throughout Annapolis. Raised in a Union family, John has always known the power of working people organizing and standing together in solidarity. After gaining experience on Capitol Hill and earning his law degree, he devoted his legal career to representing workers. For over 15 years, John has handled matters involving collective bargaining, workplace rights, and federal employment protections, and serves as the General Counsel to a major labor union. In 2024, John ran for Congress in Maryland’s Third Congressional District as a champion for working families and a more accountable democracy. His grassroots campaign earned the endorsement of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and 11 labor unions. John believes that government should answer to ordinary people—not corporate PACs, dark-money groups, or billionaire donors. He is committed to strengthening workers’ freedom to organize, protecting voting rights, expanding access to affordable healthcare through Medicare for All, confronting economic inequality, protecting our environment with the Green New Deal, and upholding human rights both at home and abroad. John earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Villanova University, where he competed on the varsity track and field team, and a law degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law. Outside of his legal and civic work, John remains an avid distance runner.
