Biography
| Diane Butler spent her professional career as an attorney specializing in the management and litigation of environmental and toxic tort insurance claims. Her career includes senior roles with The Travelers Insurance Company, Aetna Insurance, and Resolution Associates, Inc. She served as Claims Manager, Counsel, and Vice President at consulting firms specializing in the negotiation and settlement of environmental claims for Fortune 500 companies with extensive Superfund liability. Since 2016, she has volunteered extensively on political campaigns, including a focus on electing women at every level of government. In addition to supporting strong civic leadership, Diane combines her commitment to environmental conservation with service to individuals seeking a second chance through her involvement with the Maryland Reentry Resource Center. Diane is a co-founder of Greenlift.net, a landscape services company dedicated to sustainable environmental practices to help protect the Chesapeake Bay. She is an Anne Arundel County Master Watershed Steward, a member of the Annapolis Planning Commission with a special focus on increasing affordable housing, a former Chair of the Annapolis Environmental Commission, and a former board member of the Annapolis Pickleball Club and the Eastport Civic Association. Diane remains active in Seeds for Success and currently serves as Membership Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Corinthian Sailing Association. A resident of Ward 8 for more than 25 years, Diane holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. In her free time, she enjoys sailing, wingboarding, pickleball, tennis, skiing and traveling with her husband, John, and daughter, Sarah. |
