PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Beautification Manager – Anne Arundel County 2018–Present
As Anne Arundel County’s 1 st official Beautification Manager, I promote positive community development through public art, enhanced landscaping, and litter abatement projects. I coordinate all phases of project development with artists, community members, and county personnel. Public mural projects have included “History of Glen Burnie” at the Arundel Center North, “Pearl Bailey” at Whitmore Garage in Annapolis, and “Star Theatre” at Rowe Boulevard in Annapolis.

Owner — Garden Girls, LLC, Annapolis, MD 2003-Present
I successfully partner with clients to promote Chesapeake Bay stewardship through sustainable, low-impact landscape design, installation and maintenance. Projects have included wetland revitalization, living shoreline planting, rain-garden and rain-barrel installation, coastal-plain outfall construction and conservation plantings. Special Accomplishments: Reduced fertilizer use among client base by 98% since 2005, Installed approximately 600 native trees and 3800 native shrubs and perennials in Chesapeake Bay watershed Bay-friendly landscape projects featured on Eastport Home and Garden Tour in 2008, 2011, and 2016, Recipient of Green Star Award from City of Annapolis for outstanding volunteer contributions on behalf of the environment

Project Coordinator — Bilingual Education and Careers Program Salisbury State University, Salisbury, MD 1998-2001. Successfully implemented and managed federally funded (OBEMLA Title VII) $ 1.1 million grant project that provided teacher training, academic and career enhancement opportunities to bilingual residents of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. Identified and recruited bilingual students from all counties of Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia.

Assessed grant applications and provided academic support to promote student success. Created and organized yearly Bilingual Education Summer Institute. Organized and taught bi-annual Teacher Training Institute. Analyzed and reviewed grant applications made to the United States Department of Education.

Special Accomplishments: Exceeded grant specifications for student recruitment and participation by 18%. Recognized as “Outstanding Grant Recipient” on national level by funding agency and invited to present at U.S. Department of Education yearly conference in Tampa, Florida. Applied for and received two additional grants: the first, a $1.3 million USDE OBEMLA Grant for Training of Trainers, the 2 nd for $35,000 from the Maryland Department of Education for development of community-based ESL programs.
